Age of consent in mexico12/7/2023 ![]() By increasing the age of sexual consent to 18 years we would be sending the correct message, instead of this mixed message that is now being sent to our youngsters. These two very important milestones of achieving adulthood is in direct contrast and conflicts with the age of sexual consent. Eighteen is also the age at which one is allowed to work full-time. The Jamaican Constitution stipulates that a citizen must reach the age of 18 years before he or she can vote. ![]() Of course, like any other transaction, it's a two-way process, the (older) man will expect some sort of sexual favour in return for spending his money. This is done because it is believed that these older men are in a better financial position than younger men to "look after" these young girls. This syndrome is one in which older men are sought out by young girls, sometimes at the urging of the girl's mother. Another issue in our culture which fosters some of our men having sex with underage girls is that of the "sugar daddy syndrome". ![]() Of course, all this achieves is to infect the girl with the STI. As a result, some of our men folk will have sexual intercourse with underage girls in pursuit of a cure to their infections. It is also believed that the younger the girl, the more likely she will be a virgin. Sadly, and disturbingly, some males still believe that certain sexual transmitted infections (STI's) can be cured by having sexual intercourse with a virgin. ![]() There still exists today, in the Jamaican society, a few sexual myths which foster a culture of men having sex with young girls. In Jamaica, the discourse has continued, with many sharing the opinion that the age of sexual consent should be raised from 16 to 18 years old. By the end of the 20th century, cultural and legal attitudes and practices assisted in getting the age of consent increased, this was now ranging from 15 to 18 years old. In the mid-19th century it was very common to have the age of sexual consent ranging from a low of 10 years old to a high of 13. In the United States of America the age of sexual consent ranges from a low of 13 years old (New Mexico) to a high of 18 years old (California).Īttitudes have, over time, influenced the age of sexual consent in many societies. Mexico is one of few countries with the age of sexual consent being at age 12. In many other jurisdictions the age of sexual consent ranges from as young as 12 years old to as old as 21 years. In Jamaica the age of sexual consent is 16 years old. An individual who engages in sex with someone below the age of sexual consent commits a crime called carnal abuse. In criminal law, the age of sexual consent is the age at which a person is considered to be capable of legally giving consent to sexual acts with another person. In some states, a "close in age exemption" exists to decriminalize consensual sex between two individuals who are both under the age of consent.NOT very often do we come across an issue which has the ability to ignite and sustain a public debate in the Jamaican society such as the issue of the age of sexual consent. The legal age of consent varies from 16 to 18 years old from state to state across the United States. ![]()

Awa tribe stories12/7/2023 ![]() ![]() The gift acknowledged the generosity shown by Ngāti Porou during the early trading period. This was Ngāti Porou’s only formal occupation of a territory outside their traditional homeland. In the early 1800s some sections of Ngāti Porou moved to Harataunga (Kennedy Bay, Coromandel), where land was gifted to them by the Chief Pāora Te Putu. One of the tribe’s greatest assets today is its isolation and strong sense of sovereignty – mana motuhake. The native forests were largely cleared in the early days of farming, while quite significant stands of radiata pine have been planted since the mid-1950s. The traditional tribal area is mountainous, hilly and blessed with a long beautiful coastline. The Gisborne region is regarded as the overlapping boundary between the two canoes.Īs set out under the Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Porou Act 1987, Ngāti Porou’s internal boundaries are from Pōtikirua in the north to Te Toka a Taiau in the south. It then runs north along the Raukūmara Range. The traditional Horouta canoe territory is from Te Taumata-ō-Apanui in the north to Paritū in the south, then inland to Ngāti Ruapani territory and to Waikaremoana. It sits inside the two canoe boundaries of Horouta and Tākitimu. The Ngāti Porou homeland is the most easterly region of the North Island. Tribal boundaries and resources Ngati Porou tribal boundaries This is the result of the marriage of the ancestress Māhinaarangi to Tūrongo, which produced the famous ancestor Raukawa. Ngāti Porou is also linked through the Kahungunu whakapapa to the prominent Tainui–Waikato tribes. She produced two sons, Tawhiwhi and Māhaki, who in turn are important members of Ngāti Porou and the Te Aitanga-a-Māhaki sub-tribes. His daughter Tauheikurī is also a key ancestor for both Ngāti Porou and Ngāti Kahungunu. ![]() Their founding ancestor Kahungunu is a direct descendant of Porourangi. To the south of the region is the large tribe of Ngāti Kahungunu. They were further bound by the marriage of Hamoterangi to both brothers. The tradition says that Ngāi Tahu and Ngāti Porou are descended from the brothers Porourangi and Tahupōtiki. Ngāi Tahu, the largest South Island tribe, is known as the ‘younger brother’. Taua was the son of the famous marriage of Hingangaroa to Iranui (Kahungunu’s sister), both descendants of Porourangi. This tribe is referred to as the senior line, because one of its prominent members, Taua, was settled in that region after a dispute with his brother. Ngāti Porou is proud of their links with kindred tribes such as Te Whānau-ā-Apanui. May you cohabit with the daughter of Te Whironui. Their marriage is commemorated in ‘Paikea’, the anthem of Ngāti Porou, with the words:Į ai tō ure ki te tamāhine a Te Whironui. He married the beautiful Huturangi, daughter of Te Whironui, who had arrived with his wife Āraiara in the Nukutere canoe. Paikea was buoyed ashore by calling upon his sea gods and ancestors. The tragedy is known in Ngāti Porou history as Te Huripūreiata. Uenuku belittled Ruatapu as a low-born son, and in revenge Ruatapu killed all of Uenuku’s older sons out at sea the sole survivor was Paikea. She then married Uenuku and had a son named Ruatapu. The ancestress Paimahutonga had been taken captive by the great Hawaiki chief Uenuku. His story is shadowed by treachery in Hawaiki, where a battle took place over family status and rivalries, and ended in the slaughter by Ruatapu of some 70 ‘brothers’, his senior kin. The epic character Paikea is a key ancestor who came to New Zealand on the back of a whale. ![]()

Audi transmission fluid change cost12/7/2023 ![]() With the addition of the two turbochargers (one per cylinder bank), the power output of the V8 engine was increased to 331 kW (450 PS 444 bhp) at 5,700 to 6,400 rpm, and generated 580 N⋅m (428 lbf⋅ft) of torque. For the saloon, the boot holds 424 litres (14.97 cu ft).įor the C5 RS 6 powertrain detail, the engine is an all-aluminium alloy 4,172 cubic centimetres (254.6 cu in) twin-turbocharged ('biturbo'), double overhead camshaft, 5 valve per cylinder version of Audi's 4.2-litre 90° V8 petrol engine (parts code prefix: 077, identification code: BCY), developed and manufactured in Germany and the UK by quattro GmbH and Cosworth Technology (now known as MAHLE Powertrain). Luggage capacity, measured according to the VDA block method in the Avant ranges from 455 litres (16.07 cu ft), to 1,590 litres (56.15 cu ft) with the rear seats folded down. Using a lower octane-rated petrol, such as the standard 95 RON "Premium" unleaded will reduce the engine power output, and have logical reduction in performance. Official figures state an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155.3 mph), although most "RS" owners report that the speed limiter is rather liberal on all RS cars, with genuine 'limited' top speeds of 270 km/h (167.8 mph) being possible to achieve. Official performance figures for the Avant, whilst consuming the recommended high octane 98 RON "Super Plus" unleaded petrol indicate the 0-100 kilometres per hour (62.1 mph) dash would be completed in 4.6 seconds (s), reaching 200 km/h (124.3 mph) in 22.8 seconds (22.6 s for the saloon). It was manufactured from July 2002 through to September 2004. Derived from the Audi C5 S6 (itself derived from the Audi C5 A6), the RS 6 also shares the aluminium structure from the firewall and forward with the C5 A6s with V8 engines (A6 4.2 V8 Quattro, S6 saloon/Avant). A four-door five-seat saloon/sedan followed shortly after the launch of the Avant. The original Audi C5 RS 6 Quattro ( Typ 4B) was the top-of-the-line user of the Volkswagen Group C5 platform (1997–2004), and was initially available as a five-door five-seat Avant - Audi's name for an estate or station wagon. However, for the C7 generation, the Audi RS 6 has the same 4.0L bi-turbo V8 engine as the Audi RS 7, with both being positioned at the top of the Audi S and RS range, and detuned variants of the same engines are found in the Audi S8, Audi A8, and Audi S6.īased on the A6 platform, the RS 6's engines are front-mounted and longitudinally oriented, while the transmission is mounted immediately at the rear of the engine in a longitudinal orientation, in the form of a transaxle. Unlike the A6 and S6, however, the RS 6's engines in the C5 and C6 iterations have not been shared with any other vehicle in Audi's lineup. Like all Audi "RS" models, the RS 6 pioneers some of Audi's newest and most advanced engineering and technology, and so could be described as a halo vehicle, with the latest RS 6 Performance having the equal most powerful internal combustion engine out of all Audi models, with the same horsepower and torque as the physically larger Audi S8 Plus. The " RS" initials are taken from the German: RennSport – literally translated as "racing sport", and is Audi's ultimate 'top-tier' high-performance trim level, positioned a noticeable step above the " S" model specification level of Audi's regular model range line-up. The third and fourth generations are only offered as an Avant. The first and second versions of the RS 6 were offered in both Avant and saloon forms. The Audi RS 6 is a high-performance variant of the Audi A6 range, produced by the high-performance subsidiary company Audi Sport GmbH, for its parent company Audi AG, a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, from 2002 onwards. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() An excellent book that looks at the two diffraction types in an even-handed way is _Optics_ by Eugene Hecht (2nd ed.). ![]() It has very nice chapters on waves, light, and interference, and it has a chapter mostly devoted to Fraunhofer diffraction. One good physics book is _Physics_ by David Halliday and Robert Resnick (there have been so many editions it seems most of them are good). You can probably get more information from your nearest large public or university library for optics or diffraction type stuff. I take it that you have seen the images on my Fresnel web page, so now you have an idea of what Fresnel diffraction patterns look like. As a result, most textbooks only gloss over, if not overlook, Fresnel diffraction and leave the impression that only one kind of diffraction exists. On the theoretical side, computing a Fraunhofer diffraction pattern was traditionally much easier than computing a Fresnel diffraction pattern. The lens focuses the laser light onto the hole, and the hole only lets through light from a _very_ small volume of space, so the hole essentially becomes a point source of light, and violá, spherical waves.) It's a technical sounding name, but all it really is is a lens and a very small hole. (An experimental note: A device called a "spatial filter" can convert a laser's light into spherical waves. Because these distances are not too far, this phenomenon is also called "near-field" diffraction. In general, the distance between the source and obstruction and the distance between the obstruction and the screen can be arbitrarily close, but the interesting distances are on the order of centimeters to 1 meter from a millimeter sized obstruction. After these spherical waves pass by an obstruction, they will produce a Fresnel diffraction pattern at the screen or wall where they arrive. A point source of light produces spherical waves. And there are other tricks with lenses one could do.)įresnel diffraction: Light can also occur as spherical waves, which is analogous to the circular waves expanding from where we just dropped a pebble in water. (An experimental detail: a common source is for this experiment is a laser, which inherently produces plane waves, so the laser itself can be placed near an obstruction, but the screen must still be far enough away. ![]() These distances must be large enough so that the light that arrives and leaves the obstruction and reaches the wall or screen are nearly plane waves. >1 meter from a 0.1 millimeter slit or hole), hence the alternate name of "far-field" diffraction. The (effective) source of light and the place where you're recieving the light must be relatively _far_ from the obstruction (e.g. This pattern is a Fraunhofer diffraction pattern. At a large (compared to the size of the obstruction) distance away from the obstruction, there will be an illumination pattern of light and dark depending on the direction from the obstruction. These plane waves can hit an obstruction, like when ocean waves hit a dock, and travel on in a very different pattern. But the difference between Fraunhofer and Fresnel diffraction is dependent on how you setup your experiment.įraunhofer diffraction: Light can occur as plane waves, which we can imagine as the waves that come rolling in over the ocean. A diffraction pattern appears because light will interfere with itself, just as waves do. Let me see if I can give it a shot, but I recommend also looking at diagrams in the books I mention at the end:ĭiffraction is a phenomena arising from the wave nature of light. What is an aragami12/7/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() It requires the ingenuity and confidence of a Roger Corman to bring this thing off, raising such stuff above straight-to-video fodder, and Kitamura succeeds magnificently. The wonder of the film is that the director was able to stage and direct two action scenes - one short, one more extended - with such gusto and convincing moves, given the tight shooting schedule and limitation of the set, while still allowing himself time for empathetic set ups during slower moments. Obviously written at speed, the film's pay off could have been more enlightening (but perhaps a touch of obscurity in this sort of thing is a benefit, especially at a time when Hollywood genre efforts typically feel obliged to spell everything out), but fans won't argue too much and interpretations are easy to make. At heart Aragami is a film about knowing who you are, and both Osawa (who has since appeared in the less concentrated Sky High) and Masaya Kato are excellent in roles which, like chamber music, leave every flaw in performance likely to be exposed. As a project Aragami also contrasts strongly with the much more opened out Azumi (another personal favourite), which replaced the gloomy interiors and philosophising of Aragami with something much more kinetic and light hearted. Setting himself the task of shooting an action movie in one room (itself a possible contradiction in terms) the constraints ultimately make for a much more satisfying and engrossing experience than his previous, overrated breakthrough film - which was too carelessly off the wall and derivative to impress this viewer. Made in one set, with three principal actors, and over seven days, Aragami impresses far more than the more immature Versus. ![]() |
